Bali packs a dozen holidays into one island — surf town, jungle retreat, temple pilgrimage, beach club crawl. The trick is to pick two or three bases rather than chase everything.
Where to stay
Use Ubud for culture and rice terraces, Canggu for cafés and surf, and the Bukit peninsula (Uluwatu, Bingin) for the dramatic cliffs and clearest water. Sidemen is the underrated answer if you want the old Bali.
How to get there
Most travellers fly into Denpasar (DPS). It's a 20-hour journey from the UK with one stop in Doha, Dubai or Singapore — pick the layover with the best lounge.
Don't miss
Sunrise at Mount Batur, a sunset session at Single Fin in Uluwatu, and at least one morning at the Tegallalang or Jatiluwih rice terraces before the tour buses arrive.
Highlights
